There is no better time to celebrate the wonders of tequila than mid-spring, that festive portion of the year when Cinco De Mayo comes to call! Cinco is the ideal excuse for a night of debauchery. However if you, like me, crave a year-round “south of the border†journey for your tastebuds without the shame spiral and permanent liver damage, these tequila-based recipes are just what the doctor ordered! Just use the tiniest dash of Cassis; the currant syrup is so strong it can easily overpower the drink. Â Best to first pour the Champers, then tilt the glass and gently let just about a half-teaspoon of it slide to the bottom.
Mixed properly, the colors should transition beautifully from the bottom to the top.
Normally I am of the Cult of the One True Peep (yellow chick), and I really don’t acknowledge Apocryphal False Peeps (other colors or animals)… but for V-Day I thought the Kir Royale was just too perfect a drink, and it needed a proper peep-friendly equivalent. (counterpeep?)

Two pink peeps, stuck together
Based on the noxious nightclub drink “Thug Love”, this one mystifies me.  Alizé, in case you aren’t familiar, is cheap brandy mixed with sticky-sweet fruit juice… sort of like a wine cooler, but with a special grade of liquor so awful even the homeless won’t drink it.  And then the drink is mixed with Hennessy?  (Some Henny is ok, but this drink is made from the very worst).
So, it’s about as silly as mixing a “wine cooler” with wine. Â No wonder they have to add the club soda to make it tolerable. I have no idea what “thug” would be caught anywhere near this drink, except maybe as the beginning of taking advantage of someone underage…
Don’t try this one at home. Â But at least the peeps are cute!
Which is better as a chaser?
Citrus or Marshmallow? Â Lime, Lemon, or Peep?

Either way, beware of the aftermath that may ensue — could be unhealthy for the peeps! Here’s what happened to ours, when we tested in the “lab”:

Dunk peep in Fox’s U-Bet brand chocolate syrup. Add ingredients to shaker filled with ice, then pour into martini glass. Â Add remaining chocolate syrup.
Optional: Before pouring drink into martini glass, wet the rim and invert the glass into a saucer dusted with hot chocolate mix or finely grated dark chocolate.
Pour alcohol into a shaker filled with ice cubes, chill and strain into glass, garnish with marshmallow peep.
It’s simple, but colorful and tasty… A friend gave me a bottle of this stuff, and I just had to include it on this site
