Two pink peeps, stuck together

Based on the noxious nightclub drink “Thug Love”, this one mystifies me.  Alizé, in case you aren’t familiar, is cheap brandy mixed with sticky-sweet fruit juice… sort of like a wine cooler, but with a special grade of liquor so awful even the homeless won’t drink it.  And then the drink is mixed with Hennessy?  (Some Henny is ok, but this drink is made from the very worst).

So, it’s about as silly as mixing a “wine cooler” with wine.  No wonder they have to add the club soda to make it tolerable. I have no idea what “thug” would be caught anywhere near this drink, except maybe as the beginning of taking advantage of someone underage…

Don’t try this one at home.  But at least the peeps are cute!

• 1 bottle tequila
• 1 rack of peeps
• 1-2 lemons or limes
• small bowl of coarse salt

Which is better as a chaser?
Citrus or Marshmallow?  Lime, Lemon, or Peep?

Either way, beware of the aftermath that may ensue — could be unhealthy for the peeps! Here’s what happened to ours, when we tested in the “lab”:

Dunk peep in Fox’s U-Bet brand chocolate syrup. Add ingredients to shaker filled with ice, then pour into martini glass.  Add remaining chocolate syrup.

Optional: Before pouring drink into martini glass, wet the rim and invert the glass into a saucer dusted with hot chocolate mix or finely grated dark chocolate.

• 6oz Van Gogh Blueberry-Açai Vodka
• 1oz Sweet Vermouth
• 1 marshmallow peep

Pour alcohol into a shaker filled with ice cubes, chill and strain into glass, garnish with marshmallow peep.

It’s simple, but colorful and tasty… A friend gave me a bottle of this stuff, and I just had to include it on this site

• 1.5oz Jose Cuervo Tequila
• 3/4 cup fresh orange juice
• 1.5oz grenadine syrup
• 1 maraschino cherry
• Don’t forget the Peep!

Stir or shake together tequila and orange juice. Fill a chilled 12 ounce glass with ice cubes; pour in orange juice mixture. Slowly pour in the grenadine, and allow it to settle to the bottom of the glass (be patient). Garnish with a an orange slice (optional), a maraschino cherry, and a marshmallow peep!

• 2oz Pear-Infused Brandy
• 4oz Ketel One Vodka
• 1oz Dry Vermouth
• Ground Cinnamon
• 2 peeps, still stuck together

Place cinnamon on a saucer.  Wet the rim of the martini glass, and slide it around upside-down on the saucer to apply the cinnamon rim.  Fill a large shaker with ice, and add all three ingredients.  Strain into martini glass, carefully avoiding the cinnamon, and float two peeps on top as garnish.

• 6oz Sauza Hornitos Tequila
• 4oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
• 2oz Grand Marnier
• 4oz Lime juice
• 2tbsp Confectioners’ sugar
• 1 row of frozen peeps
• 1 non-frozen peep (garnishes and other extras optional)

1. Fill a martini glass with crushed ice and cold water, to begin chilling the glass.

2. Over a small plate or cutting board, rub the whole row of peeps between your hands until the frozen and colored sugar coating rains onto the surface below.  This will be a messy nuisance, getting all over your hands — just deal with it.

3. Fill a large shaker with ice cubes, add tequila and triple sec first, then lime juice and confectioners’ sugar (or substitute 2oz simple syrup).

4. Dump the icewater from the martini glass, and rub the upside-down glass in the “peep dust” to create the colored sugar rim.

5. Carefully refill the glass with crushed ice.

6. Shake the shaker, strain into martini glass over the crushed ice, and garnish as illustrated.

Alternate presentations:

• 1.25 oz Vodka
• 0.25 oz triple sec
• 0.25 oz lime juic

Fill a small shaker with ice. Add lime juice, triple sec and vodka, shake and strain into a shot glass, then garnish with divebombing peep.

We can’t remember what was so lusty about this peep drink… Do you have any ideas?  We’d love to hear your comments…

Of all the crazy concoctions, this was actually one of the few that truly tasted good.  Honest!  It was more-or-less a Melon Ball:  Midori, Orange Juice, Vodka (a LOT, to cover the rest of the tastes), and of course a sugar rim with peep.

Gin with some kind of colored liquor (Chambord?) … we can’t remember…

Ok, so we know the “production values” on the 2006 site aren’t quite up to the 2011 standards… but still, there’s charm, right?

Nothing screams “oOoOOOOoOh, I’m sOoOoO drunk, take me home” like a Peepmopolitan.  Classic back in 2006, and still a staple in 2011.

Our 2011 version is more elegant, but the original will remind you more of college…
